Updating your browser matters

The Online Trust Alliance (OTA) today launched an initiative called "Why Your Browser Matters" designed to "to provide a framework and prescriptive advice for consumer-facing websites to implement 'teachable moments,' promoting the virtues of consumers running and installing the most up-to-date version of their browser."  At IID, we wholeheartedly support this initiative and encourage our customers and others to make the effort to get their customers to upgrade to the newest browsers.

The consumers' browsers (including those used by employees at home) are part of a company's first line of defense against cybercrime.  Older browsers are less secure that newer versions, leaving users more vulnerable to phishing, malware and the loss of private information.  Just as a corporate security policy should mandate running up-to-date software on the corporate network, enterprises need to encourage end users to update their browsers.

Please join IID and the over 100 companies and organizations that contributed to the development of this initiative to make "Why Your Browser Matters" successful in strengthening the first line of defense against cybercrime.
